Maccabi Rapyd Tel Aviv has signed Gabriel “Iffe” Lundberg to a three-year contract extension. The Danish guard (1.93m, 31), who plays as both a point guard and shooting guard, has developed under Oded Kattash into a leader both on and off the court.

Lundberg, who possesses rich EuroLeague experience (averaging 11 points and 3.6 assists per game last season), integrated seamlessly into the Israeli Super League (17.5 points and 4 assists per game during the Finals series). He enjoys living with his family in Israel and has formed a wonderful bond with the organization, the fans, his teammates, and the club’s values. He was a major factor in Maccabi’s double-winning campaign last season and was named the Playoff Finals MVP.

“I am more than excited to continue this journey with Maccabi,” Iffe Lundberg said. “Together with the club and Coach Oded, this is the place where I can fulfill my full potential and help our team in the best way possible. This is a great opportunity to play and compete for the EuroLeague title”.

“The signing of Iffe Lundberg is another reinforcement of the principle of continuity that guides us every step of the way”, Club Chairman Shimon Mizrahi told the official website. Head Coach Oded Kattash added: “We are very happy that Iffe is staying with us. He is an experienced leader who connected very well with the staff and the team. This is another crucial building block in maintaining our roster’s continuity”.

Gabriel Lundberg was born on December 4, 1994, in Copenhagen, Denmark. He is a player with extensive experience on the European stage, boasting a rare combination of power, speed, and all-around shooting ability. He brings maturity, stability, toughness, and the ability to create points for himself and others. In Tel Aviv, he lives with his wife Camilla and their son Jamie.

With Horsens, he averaged approximately 14 points, 4.6 rebounds, and 4.2 assists per game, showcasing a versatile shooting touch and a strong offensive presence even back then.

He then moved to Spain, joining Manresa for the 2017/18 season, where he averaged 11.1 points, 4 rebounds, and 2 assists per game while shooting 44% from the field, establishing himself as a player with excellent driving ability and outside shooting. His major breakthrough came in the 2020/21 season with Poland’s Zielona G?ra, averaging 20.4 points, 3.8 rebounds, and 5.4 assists per game, alongside 38% from beyond the arc.

His impressive performances opened the door to CSKA Moscow, where he launched his EuroLeague career, averaging 9.1 points per game. In 2022, he signed with the Phoenix Suns, becoming the first Danish player in the NBA. After playing four games, he returned to Europe to join Virtus Bologna, winning both the Italian Championship and the Italian Cup.

In the 2024/25 season, he played for Partizan Belgrade under Zeljko Obradovic, contributing 9 points per night while playing a key role in helping the Black-and-Whites win the Adriatic League.
