Maccabi Elite Tel Aviv inflicted Bnei Hasharon their first defeat of the season, 80-88 in a game played in front of 1,500 spectators in Raanana.
At the end of the first quarter Maccabi led 26-20 and increased it to 40-27. At half time they held a 49-41 lead. Bnei Hashron started well the third quarter and cut the margin to one point (51-50). But with the score 57-56 Maccabi went on a 10-0 run and at the end of the period led 67-56. Maccabi made it 79-63 but in the final minutes Meir Tapiro managed to make it an 8 points game.
Tal Burstein had an excellent game for Maccabi with 17 pts, 7 rebounds & 6 assists. Another impressive game for Maceo Baston with 21 pts, 13 rbds, 5 blocked shots & 2 assists.
Lee Mathews was Bnei Hasharon’s leading player with 28 pts & 13 rebds.
