On Saturday: Maccabi hosts Herzliya before "Italian week"
The Yellows will try to clinch a league victory before facing Milano and Virtus Bologna in the Euroleague. Baldwin, Colson, and Hollins won't play
Less than 48 hours after the impressive win over Valencia, Maccabi Playtika Tel Aviv will go back to Menora Mivtachim Arena on Saturday (7:20 pm Israel time, 12:20 pm EST), this time to face Bnei Herzliya in Winner’s league round 8.
A win over the Israeli state cup holders will keep the Yellows at the top of the table and secure positive momentum before an “Italian week” in which Oded Kattash’s team will face Milano and Virtus Bologna away, on Tuesday and Friday accordingly.
Wade Baldwin who was injured on Thursday against Valencia will not play – Bonzie Colson and Austin Hollins won’t be on the roster as well. The squad would include Roman Sorkin, John DiBartolomeo, Jake Cohen, Yiftach Ziv, Jarell Martin, Josh Nebo, Darrun Hilliard, Jalen Adams, Rafi Menko, Guy Pnini, and Tomer Agmon.

The Yellows gave up a comfortable lead in the closing minutes and stumbled at Menora Mivtachim Arena. Jalen Adams scored 25 points (7 three-pointers)
Two minutes before the final buzzer, when Roman Sorkin’s basket gave Maccabi Playtika Tel Aviv an 85:79 lead over Bnei Herzliya, it seemed like a game that would end with smiles on all yellow faces. But that didn’t happen. Oded Kattash’s team was dragged to overtime and eventually lost this evening (Saturday) to the Israeli state cup holders 93:98.
After the victory over Valencia, the Yellows did look sharp and had the lead almost throughout the whole game with Jalen Adams being their main man (25 points and 7 three-pointers), but a lack of concentration cost them the win, and also the first place in Winner’s league table.
As always, not too much time to dwell on this loss. Maccabi will now face two Italian opponents on the road – Milano on Tuesday and Virtus Bologna on Thursday – in a busy week that would hopefully end differently.
