Still without Wade Baldwin and Josh Nebo, the Yellows will try to take a commanding 2-0 lead against Hapoel Beer Sheva
The math is simple: securing six more wins in the Winner’s League playoffs would grant Maccabi Playtika Tel Aviv its 56th state championship. However, the road ahead is still long, with the next challenge being game 2 against Hapoel Beer Sheva on Sunday at 5:30 pm (Israel time).
Based on how game 1 unfolded, Maccabi must maintain focus to secure another victory and establish a commanding 2-0 lead in the series. The Yellows encountered difficulties establishing a decisive lead during the first game against the Reds and only managed to secure the win in the final minutes. They will hope for a better performance tomorrow, despite the absence of injured Wade Baldwin and Josh Nebo.

Maccabi Playtika Tel Aviv is closing in on a spot in Winner’s League last four. After winning game 1 at home, the Yellows defeated Hapoel Beer Sheva away 80-76 and took a commanding 2-0 lead in Winner’s League quarterfinals series. Another win on Wednesday would seal the series and advance Oded Kattash’s players to the semifinals.
However, today’s victory was hard-fought. The Yellows struggled with their shooting once again, making only 6 of 18 three-point attempts, and found themselves entering the last ten minutes trailing. Nevertheless, they dominated the boards, outrebounding their opponents 43-29, and managed to level the score at a crucial juncture.
In the absence of Wade Baldwin, it was Lorenzo Brown who stepped up in the closing minutes, delivering crucial baskets and leading Maccabi with an impressive 21 points, marking a career-high in the Winner’s League. Game 3 is scheduled to take place at Menora Mivtachim Arena on Wednesday at 6 pm Israel time.
