On Wednesday: Maccabi's milestone game in Monaco

The yellows will open the second round in the Euroleague with their 1,000th appearance in European competitions since the club's foundation

After seven straight losses, Maccabi Playtika Tel Aviv hopes that the second round of the Euroleague will bring with it a new spirit and different results. On Wednesday (20:00 local, 1 pm ET), The Yellows will face Monaco away and try to end the negative streak.

This would be an exceptional milestone for the Israeli champs, marking their 1,000th game in European competitions since the club was founded.

Giannis Sfairopoulos decided to wave James Nunnally from the squad. When asked about it, he commented briefly: “I only think about what’s best for the team, and I believe this decision will help us.”

“This is a difficult time for us because we are losing games and not playing well,” the Greek coach added. “We must react together – the players and me. We will keep fighting to get good results and play good basketball.”

“We try to learn a lot from every game and every loss, but this is not the time for words. We need to speak through our actions on the court”.

Maccabi loses 76:82 in Monaco

Maccabi Playtika Tel-Aviv wouldn’t want to remember the club’s all-time 1000th game in European competitions. The yellows yielded 76:82 to Monaco and suffered their 8th Euroleague loss in a row.

The defeat equaled Maccabi’s longest losing streak in history and caused the Israeli champs to drop to a 7:11 record. Scottie Wilbekin scored 31 points, but the outcome was unfortunately bitter again.

Maccabi will try to bounce back against Hapoel Jerusalem away on Saturday night.
