Oded Kattash’s team should take confidence from its fantastic home record this season, which stands at 15-2. The Yellows defeated Monaco 78-70 in Tel Aviv back in October and have gone on to beat every team that qualified for the 2023 playoffs except for Barcelona. With the prospect of winning the series at home, we can expect a packed house at Menora Mivtachim Arena.

The incredible push from the crowd didn’t yield results for Maccabi in the first half. Monaco got off to a hot start, taking an early 18-7 lead with Lorenzo Brown committing two quick fouls and being forced to get substituted. The momentum almost shifted in favor of Maccabi with Bonzie Colson’s layup, which tied the game at 24-24 in the second quarter. However, Mike James took charge and, with 18 points, gave the visitors a 41-32 lead at halftime.
Maccabi had a strong start to the third quarter, with Darrun Hilliard’s four-point play and Josh Nebo’s alley-oop cutting Monaco’s lead to just three points (48-51). A three-pointer by John DiBartolomeo kept the Yellows in the game at the end of the quarter, setting the stage for a nerve-wracking last ten minutes.
Maccabi came close a few times during the fourth quarter, but a 6 of 25 shooting night from behind the arc tilted the game in favor of Monaco.
