Maccabi FOX Tel Aviv will play the reigning European champs, CSKA Moscow, hoping to keep the momentum from winning the cup. The center ahead of the game: “We need to focus on their key guys, play physical and get the road win”
Coach Bagatskis: “In general everything is clear what we have to do to win in CSKA. We can’t play soft
defense. Our defense and offense have to be in balance. To me, CSKA is the strongest team in Europe and statistically have the best numbers in many positions. For CSKA, the top performer was Nando De-Colo, one of the leading candidates to finish as the Euroleague’s MVP. De-Colo finished with 29 points in 29 minutes. Kyle Hines had 14 and 10 rebounds (of which 8 were offensive) and Milos Teodosic scored 11 points and dished out 8 assists.
CSKA led 26 – 14 after the first quarter, but Maccabi closed the gap after a 2nd quarter with 34 points. The score at halftime was 54 – 48 to CSKA who then led 69 – 60 after the 3rd quarter. In the 4th, it seemed like Maccabi’s players were too tired to continue the comeback and CSKA easily ended it with a double-figure lead. For
Maccabi it was the 3rd game this week. Leading scorer Andrew Goudelock sat out with an ankle injury.Next week Maccabi will have two home games: on Monday against Maccabi Haifa in the Israeli league and on Thursday against European powerhouse, Olympiacos, who lost 64 – 67 to
