A week before they host Prokom Sopot in the opening game of the Euroleague season, Maccabi Elite Tel Aviv lost tonight in Belgium 85-89 to Spirou Charleroi. This was Maccabi’s 10th preseason game and they have an 8-2 record.
In front of 6,000 spectators including ex captain Gur Shelef, Maccabi won the first period 25-23. But from then on the Belgians wewre in control 48-38 and 50-43 at half time. At the end of the third Charleroi were 67-65 up. A three pointer by Sharon Shason made it 85-85 but the hosts had the final say.
Scorers for Maccabi: Solomon 21, Parker 20, Baston 15, Sharp 15, Vujcic 7, Shason 5, Green 4, Burstein 2 points.
