The folks at Maccabi Electra Tel Aviv (who will return to Israel tomorrow (Tuesday), are very pleased with the pair of victories they are bringing home from Slovenia. Head coach David Blatt: “For most of the game tonight we played very well, and that’s why the score was so lopsided. We need to remember that this is only the beginning. Up to now we’ve played against teams that are not at the top level, so you can’t draw too many conclusions. These were games that, from the outset, we considered to be a part of our preparation for the season, and we achieved the hoped-for results.”
“Starting on Thursday with our game against Cibona Zagreb, things will be completely different. Regarding the two games we’ve just played in Slovenia, I can say that thanks to them we are starting off the season from a better position. We have a deep and high-quality roster that was built with the goals we have for this special season in mind, and I hope we’ll continue in the same manner for the rest of the season.”
MVP of the game against Zlatorog Laško, Lior Eliyahu, added, “We’ve won another game. Although our opponent wasn’t all that strong, we need to stay in top shape. Every game we play helps us come together as a team and helps us prepare for the more difficult games that await us. The mood on the team is great; the guys are great and play very unselfishly. It’s a lot of fun to play this way.”
