When asked if he thought the game against Gilboa was good preparation for the Euroleague game on Thursday against Armani Milano, head coach David Blatt responded, “It depends on how you look at it. In my opinion, Milano is not going to be the same. Tonight we came to the game prepared, and played fast and aggressive basketball. I can’t say that I expect the same kind of game on Thursday, but tonight we definitely did all we could and should.”
“I put in the same effort as I expect from my players,” Blatt responded, when asked why he continued to shout and get upset on the sidelines, and insisted his players keep up the intensity, in the face of a 30 point blowout. “That’s the way we do things. We educate the team to be hard-working and to play hard all the time.”
Game MVP David Blu, who was outstanding with 5 three pointers and 21 points, said after the game, “Gilboa is a good team with talented players; they just need to come together more. We came ready to do our jobs, to continue the good work we’ve done so far this year.”
Yogev Ohayon added, “I’m happy that we’re playing well as a team; we’ve been playing like a team since the beginning. It’s the first week of the season, and we played like we should. Galil is a very good team; they have excellent players who proved themselves last season. It could be that they just had a bad night. It happens. I’m sure they will prove themselves as the season goes on.”
