With a minute and twenty seconds left in the first quarter of last Thursday’s game against Lokomotiv Kuban, David Blu went up for a three point shot. The ball, like it almost always does when he shoots, went in. It seemed like just another triple, but in fact it was a momentous bucket for the veteran forward, marking Blu’s 1,000th point – exactly – for Maccabi Electra Tel Aviv in the

Euroleague (he scored another ten points during the game, bringing his total so far to 1,010).
Blu is the 18th Maccabi player to reach 1,000 points in Europe.  He needs another 88 points in order to surpass Lior Eliyahu, and 102 points to overtake Oded Katash.

Blu is ranked 34th among the top scorers in the Euroleague of all time. He has 1,417 points, some of which he scored while playing for Benetton Treviso, Le Mans, and Fortitudo Bologna, in addition to the points he scored for Maccabi. He has 239 career three pointers in the Euroleague (40.9% shooting) and is ranked 15th on the list of the greatest 3 point shooters of all time in the best league in Europe.

Blu is Maccabi’s most veteran player today – currently in his seventh season with the club – in four separate terms, something no other player before him has done.
