The Israel National Team this evening brat Latvia 91-75 and qualified to the next stage of the European Championship. Tomorrow they will play Slovenia in the city of Lulea for a place in the 1/4 finals.
Israel played brilliantly in the first half, led by Tal Burstein who scored 19 pts by half time. Burstein was the MVP with 21 pts (3-5 for three), 8 rebound & 6 assists. Captain Yoav Saffar scored 16 pts (4-6 for three). Derrick Sharp had 13 pts (3-4 for three), Gur Shelef 7 pts, 5 assists & 4 rbds & Yotam Halperin 2 pts.
Sarunas Jasikevicius, who will join Maccabi after the Championship, scored 14 pts & handed 9 assists in Lithuania crushing 93-71 win over Germany and a place in the 1/4 finals.
