The Israel National Team assured its place in the playoffs of the European Basketball Championship with a stunning 85-77 win over Spain in Novi Sad. This is one of the greatest wins ever for the Israeli team.
Tal Burstein & Gur Shelef were the top players. Burstein played 37 minutes, scored 19 pts, pulled down 4 rbds & made 5 assists. Shelef had 15 pts, 2 rbds & 3 assists. Yaniv Geeen scored 11 pts & Yotam Halperin 5 pts.
Israel’s opponents in the playoffs on Tuesday in Belgrade (21:30) will be Greece. Serbia beat Latvia 82-67 and will face France.
Nikola Vujcic scored 20 pts for Croatia in the 80-67 over Turkey and will now play Italy. Germany will play Turkey. Four teams have already qualified for the quarter finals: Russia, Lithuania, Slovenia & Spain.
