In spite of the 79-76 win over Germany, the Israeli team will not play in the quarter finals of the European Junior (u.18) Championship in Greece. Israel, Italy & Bulgaria have all the same record (2-1) but Israel is eliminated on goal difference. First team player Omri Casspi, scored 33 pts, pulled down 7 rbds & made 3 steals. Maccabi Junior team captain Gal Mekel had 23 pts, 5 rbds, 4 asts & 3 stls. After the first stage Casspi is the team’s top scorer with 58 pts ahead of Mekel 56. The next two are also Maccabi TA players: Sean Daniel 29 & Anton Shoutvin 19 pts. Israel’s next game will be played on Saturday (16:45) vs Slovenia.
