Gaines’ outstanding efforts in Thursday night’s game against Alba Berlin earned him co-MVP honors in the Euroleague this week with 33 index points. During the game, he scored 24 points and pulled down 12 rebounds.

Maccabi Electra Tel Aviv’s new forward Charles Gaines and Michael Hall of Milano shared top honors in Week 5 of the Top 16, as MVPs of the Week. Thursday night in Berlin, Gaines played his best game ever in the Euroleague, scoring 24 and taking 12 rebounds, earning him 33 index points and giving Maccabi a 76 – 70 victory over Alba Berlin.
Hall and Milano, who beat Olympiacos last time, lost against them this week in a close match-up which ended in an 84 – 81 victory for the Greeks.
The top player in that game was, of course, Hall with 27 points, 9 rebounds and 3 steals, earning him a 33 index point rating.
In addition to Gaines, Marcus Brown also had an excellent game with 21 points and 16 index points.
Carlos Arroyo got off to a slow start in that game, but ended up with 14 points and 4 assists, which earned him 12 index points.
Dee Brown, who scored 11, and Eliyahu with 6, round out the scorers for Maccabi.
D’or Fischer continues to be the top player for Maccabi this season.
He is first in the index for the Euroleague with 21.2, ninth in points (14.6), third in rebounds (7.6) and fourth in blocks (1.7).
Maccabi’s top passer is Arroyo with 4.3 assists per game, which puts him fifth in the Euroleague.
