Belgian team Charleroi approached Maccabi Electra Tel Aviv and requested that Demond Mallet, the player they had loaned to Maccabi earlier in the season, be released and allowed to return to Belgium in order to help them in their playoff bid there.

Just as Charleroi was receptive to the idea of loaning Mallet to Maccabi when the Belgian team failed to qualify for the Euroleague Top 16, the management of Maccabi – in consultation with the professional staff – decided to respond favorably when requested by the Belgians to return the player. Mallet recently signed a two year extension to his contract with Charleroi.

Maccabi thanks Mallet, a talented player and an especially upbeat person, for the time he has spent with the team. The player himself expressed his thanks to the club and especially to the fans, saying he very much enjoyed his time in Israel and appreciated the good will and support he was given here.
