Euroleague Draw for 2010-11; Maccabi Seeded Second

The Euroleague Draw for the upcoming 2010 – 2011 season will take place in Barcelona on Thursday, 8 July 2010, starting at 12:15 Israel time.
Maccabi Electra Tel Aviv will be represented by Chairman Shimon Mizrahi and General Manager Eli Drikes.

The six seeds according to which the 24 teams (22 known, two to be decided in the qualifying rounds) will be grouped for regular season play were released today (Tuesday) by Euroleague management.
In each group will be one team from every seed.
The only limitation on the groups is that no group will have more than one team from the same country, except for Spain which will send five teams (including Valencia, champion of the Eurocup) to the Euroleague in the coming season.
One group, therefore, will have two teams from Spain.

This season, the seeds were decided using a new method, which takes into account the achievements of the teams over the last three Euroleague seasons, and not just the last season.
Each team will be granted two points for each win and one for each loss from the regular season onwards.
Two bonus points are awarded for reaching the Top 16, 2 bonus points for reaching the Top 8, one bonus point for reaching the Final Four and one point for reaching the Euroleague Final.

Maccabi Electra Tel Aviv was placed in the second seed, together with Montepaschi Siena, Panathinaikos Athens and Real Madrid, which means that Maccabi will not face any of those teams in the Regular Season.
