“It is a special thing for us to be in Tel Aviv because of the importance of Maccabi Tel Aviv Basketball Club to the Euroleague and to European basketball in general”. These were the words of Mr. Jordi Bertomeu, Chief Executive Office of the Euroleague in a press conference this evening in the Hilton Hotel in Tel Aviv.
Bertomeu and all the Euroleague staff, are in Tel Aviv for the Regular Season draw to be held tomorrow. Bertomeu said:”We open the 2003/04 season in Tel Aviv and we will close it here with the Final Four”.
He also explained that it was his decision to move last season’s games vs Virtus Bologna & Benetton Treviso from Tel Aviv to Thessaloniki because of the war in Iraq. “It was a very hard decision to take and I hope we will not have yo make the same decisions any more”.
