Career High 11 Assists for Yogev Ohayon

Yogev Ohayon continues to demonstrate his ability, making a career high 11 assists in last night’s Euroleague Top 16 game against Zalgiris Kaunas in Lithuania. He is the first Maccabi player to claim a points/assists double since 2006-07.

Point guard Yogev Ohayon set a new personal record last night, with 11 assists in the game against Zalgiris; his previous record was 9 assists in the Euroleague, which he reached twice:  once during this regular season against Red Star Belgrade, and once during the regular season last year against Chalon. This is, of course, Ohayon’s first double double in the Euroleague, and check this out:

The last Maccabi player to score at least ten points and make at least ten assists in a Euroleague game was none other than current team manager Nikola Vuj?i?, who attained that feat during his amazing triple double game against Ljubljana during the 2006-07 season, in which he racked up 27 points, 10 assists and 10 rebounds for an impressive 46 index points.

Since that game, other players have dished out 10 assists in a game, but not as part of a double double:
Carlos Arroyo made 10 assists during the 2008-09 season against Alba Berlin, but scored only 8 points.
Vonteego Cummings delivered 10 assists in 2007-08 against Milano, but scored only 4 points.

So far this season, Maccabi players have attained five double doubles, but up until now they have been the “easier” kind, points and rebounds. Devin Smith has two so far, Alex Tyus and Joe Ingles have one apiece, and now, of course, Yogev Ohayon has joined the club with 10 points and 11 assists.
