A special ceremony honoring Lou Silver and the late Jim Boatwright will take place tonight before Maccabi Electra Tel Aviv’s first home Euroleague game of the season, against Crvena Zvezda Telekom (Red Star) Belgrade.

The Maccabi Electra Tel Aviv Basketball Club will hold a special ceremony before tonight’s Euroleague game against Crvena Zvezda Telekom (Red Star) Belgrade, inducting two of its greats, Lou Silver and the late Jim Boatwright, into the club’s Hall of Fame. Boatwright will be represented by his widow, Chris. As is the custom, the former players’ jerseys will be raised to the rafters of Nokia Arena, and they will receive plaques commemorating their official entrance into the Maccabi Hall of Fame. They will also receive gold rings embellished with a diamond.
Silver’s and Boatwright’s former teammates from the legendary 1977 team will also be in attendance: Tal Brody, Miki Berkowitz, Motti Aroesti, Aulcie Perry and Shuki Shwartz. The exciting reunion will be captured on film as part of a documentary entitled “77-78” by director Dani Menkin, which will be broadcast on Channel 8 (HOT Cable) sometime during 2014. The ’77 team will gather in Maccabi’s VIP Lounge at Nokia Arena before the game to watch their historic victory in the European Champions Cup final in Belgrade in 1977.
