A poor attacking display cost the Yellows an important battle against a direct contender for a playoffs spot. Wilbekin scored 20 points
After three consecutive Euroleague victories came a painful defeat. Maccabi Playtika Tel Aviv lost 52:70 to Bayern Munich away, a score that might come back to haunt the Yellows as the Germans are considered direct contenders for a spot in the playoffs.
It was a very close contest during the first half, but the Israeli champions dropped their level significantly in the closing 20 minutes to see Bayern take control of the rhythm and not look back. Scottie Wilbekin’s 20 points didn’t help.
Maccabi will have another chance to improve its chances to reach the top 8 next Thursday when CSKA will arrive at Menora Mivtachim Arena.
