Hilliard and Sorkin’s 19 points carried the Yellows to a comfortable victory at home. On Thursday: Maccabi faces Villeurbanne away
Maccabi Playtika Tel Aviv’s fantastic momentum was maintained today (Sunday) through a home game versus Hapoel Gilboa/Galil. Even with Lorenzo Brown and Josh Nebo out, the Yellows won comfortably 86:64 and now look ahead toward the more important game of the week, against Villeurbanne in France.
The hosts exploded in a 29-12 stunning first quarter that should have put the game away but the Northern visitors cut the lead to two before in-form Wade Baldwin took charge and, with help from his teammates, produced another big run, and this time decisive.
Baldwin finished the game with 8 points, 9 assists, and 6 rebounds. Roman Sorkin and Darrun Hilliard scored 19 in Maccabi’s sixth win in a row. A seventh, on Thursday, might propell the Yellows to Euroleague playoff ticket.
