In the second Euro Classic played in the U.S., Maccabi FOX Tel Aviv lost to Armani Milan 76-72 at Madison Square Garden in New York. Sylven Landesberg led Maccabi with 15 points and Jordan Farmar added 13 points, 7 rebounds, and 5 assists.
Maccabi’s starters were Devin Smith, Brian Randle, Jordan Farmar, Itay Segev and Taylor Rochestie. The yellows fell to 7-3 early on but soon tied the score at 7. The pace picked up once some substitutions were made, with Dragan Bender making two huge blocks and adding a trey that made it 16-12 Maccabi at the end of the first period.
Vitor Faverani went to work in the paint as the second period got underway, but Robbie Hummel put the Italians up 26-20 and soon after Maccabi made another turnover which Kruno Simon capitalized on at the other end. Farmar responded with two straight threes but Milan had no trouble holding onto the lead. Sylven Landesberg and Rochestie closed the gap after the yellows had trailed by 8, but yet another mid-range jumper by Milan closed out the half with the Italians holding a 38-31 lead.
Maccabi came back after the break with a tougher defense and better game management by Ohayon, alongside outstanding shooting by Landesberg who put Maccabi within one, 47-46. Maccabi took a 57-55 lead but finished the quarter with the score tied 57-57.
Rochestie cut Maccabi’s deficit to one with three points from the charity stripe, but former Maccabi player Milan Ma?van answered with points from outside the arc for Milan. Farmar scored for the yellows and the battle continued. Randle tied the score but the Italians replied with 5 straight to make it 75-70. Randle put Maccabi within striking distance with two from the foul line, then with 11.8 seconds on the clock fouled Hummel, who missed his first free throw but made the second, and Maccabi FOX Tel Aviv lost to Armani Milan 76-72.
