The Yellows rallied past the Greeks with a 90:84 victory and improved their Euroleague record to 5:4 before traveling to Belgrade. Baldwin scored 22 points
After opening the week with a big derby triumph, Maccabi Playtika Tel Aviv came back to Menora Mivtachim Arena this evening (Tuesday) and provided a huge statement win against one of the strongest teams in Europe. In front of nearly 11,000 fans, The Yellows defeated Olympiacos 90:84 and improved their Euroleague record to 5:4.
It was a sweet victory because of how it was earned. Oded Kattash’s players weren’t at their best for most of the game and already trailed by 11 points in the third quarter but kept fighting, showed character, and found a way to seal an impressive win over a true Euroleague powerhouse.
Wade Baldwin led the scorers with 22 points, but honorable mentions deserve also to Lorenzo Brown (16), Jarell Martin (13), and John DiBartolomeo (11 and 7 rebounds). The next challenge that awaits Maccabi – Red Star Belgrade on Thursday.
