Maccabi Handles Nes Ziona, 83-59

Maccabi FOX Tel Aviv started off the third round of the Israeli Winner Sal League with an 83-59 win over Ironi Nes Ziona at Menora Mivtachim Arena. Landesberg led all scorers with 19 points.

Maccabi FOX Tel Aviv started off the third round of the Israeli Winner Sal League with an 83-59 win over Ironi Nes Ziona at Menora Mivtachim Arena. Sylven Landesberg led all scorers with 19 points. Brian Randle, in his first game back after being injured, scored 14 points and took 8 rebounds. Taylor Rochestie added 13 points.
 
Starters for Maccabi were Brian Randle, Sylven Landesberg, Gal Mekel, Taylor Rochestie, and Ike Ofoegbu. Maccabi wasted no time taking control of the game, running to 9-0 in the first two and a half minutes on points from Randle, Mekel, and Landesberg. Nes Ziona had very little to contribute to the game, while points by Rochestie, Itay Segev, and Randle ended the period with the hosts leading 25-6.
 
Maccabi continued to dominate at the start of the second quarter, with Dragan Bender scoring five straight to make it 33-10 after three minutes. Nes Ziona finally woke up and began trading buckets with the hosts and the score reached 45-24 going into halftime.
 
The visitors came back from the break with new energy, scoring four straight before Guy Pnini scored from downtown to reopen the lead. Maccabi kept their advantage at nineteen for the next few minutes, until with less than two minutes left in the period, Nes Ziona cut that to fifteen, 58-43. A three by Landesberg reopened the lead with :30 left, and the quarter ended with Maccabi up 65-46.
 
Nes Ziona again cut the deficit at the start of the quarter, 65-53 after a minute and a half. Randle, Landesberg, and Ohayon scored to give Maccabi some breathing room, 71-54 near the halfway mark, and from then on the tempo of the game was controlled by the home team. Rochestie and Pnini wrapped things up, and Maccabi FOX Tel Aviv went on to defeat Nes Ziona 83-59.
