Maccabi Fox Tel Aviv came into the match against Barcelona with a lot of positive momentum, but that only lasted for little over a quarter. At the end of the day, the Spanish giants walked out of Menora with a 69:79 win that dropped Maccabi to 2:3 in Euroleague play.
Tyrese Rice, who won the Euroleague with Maccabi, led the visitors with an almost perfect performance that included 21 points, many of which came in make-or-break possessions. Andrew Goudelock led all home scorers with 19 points.
“It felt like we got caught in some mud”, said Goudelock, “we lacked both rhythm and energy, we missed several key rebounds and in general. We just looked tired. I don’t like excuses so I don’t really want to explain it”.
Coach Rami Hadar said: “we had trouble with two key parameters – rebounding and turnovers. They got a lot of extra possessions and took advantage of them”. Maccabi plays Ashdod and Panathinaikos next.
