The Yellows lost 68:69 to Red Star in Belgrade, after cutting the hosts’ lead in the fourth quarter and coming within a shot away from securing a win. Maccabi had the last possession, but a missed three-pointer by Lorenzo Brown (23 points) in the last second determined the final score.
On the positive side, Oded Kattash’s players showed improved defense, Roman Sorkin continued his rise with 16 points (new personal Euroleague record), and the Yellows won the battle of rebounds again. On Sunday, Hapoel Jerusalem will arrive in Tel Aviv, and Maccabi will hope to put aside the disappointment and triumph in the Israeli Clasico.
