Led by Roman Sorkin’s standout performance (22 points, 10 rebounds), the Yellows defeated Hapoel Tel Aviv 89-82 at home and finished the regular season at the top of the standings
It was a game dominated by offenses, with Maccabi coming out firing and scoring 50 points in the first half, taking a 13-point lead. However, the visitors managed to narrow the gap to only 8 points at halftime. Hapoel completed their comeback by taking the lead at the end of the third quarter, taking advantage of Wade Baldwin’s injury and Maccabi’s temporary letdown (70-67).
But Oded Kattash’s players had the last laugh. A 10-point run, led by Sorkin and Bonzie Colson, put the game away, giving the yellow fans an evening to remember. Maccabi will open the playoffs on Wednesday by hosting Hapoel Beer Sheva in the quarterfinals game 1.
