In a way, it was just another day in Maccabi Playtika Tel Aviv’s rich history. Yet, there were some alarm bells that Giannis Sfairopoulos must be aware of ahead of the important Euroleague game against Unics Kazan.
Maccabi lost 73:87 to Irony Ness Ziona in an evening that the yellows wouldn’t want to remember on both sides of the court. The champions had 20 turnovers and 23 missed shots from behind the arc and dropped to a 5:3 league record.
Scotty Wilbekin scored 19 points but was also ejected from the game with two technical fouls. He, of course, will be back in business on Thursday, when Maccabi returns to Menora-Mivtachim Arena after two weeks, to face Kazan.
