It was bound to happen sooner or later, but it still feels bitter when it does. In its fifth game in nine days, Maccabi Playtika Tel Aviv suffered its first loss in Winner’s league – 75:80 to Hapoel Jerusalem at Menora Mivtachim Arena and dropped to a 5:1 record in the major domestic competition.

Oded Kattash’s players found it hard to overcome the absence of Lorenzo Brown and trailed for most of the game. In the last quarter, Jerusalem’s lead grew to 14 points, but with the help of Jarell Martin (17 points) Maccabi fought to come back and almost did, but in the end, the mountain was just a bit too high.

The Yellows will now enjoy a much-needed rest and prepare for their next challenge – a meeting with Bayern Munich on Friday, in the Euroleague.
