Both teams traded blows throughout the game, but a late 10:2 run by the Milanese secured the 75:80 win for the team from the fashion capital of the world. Scottie (15P, 2R & 4A) and Johnny (12P, 6R & 3A) stood out for the yellows
Coach Spahija’s starting five: Wilbekin, Kane, Zoosman, O’Bryant and Caloiaro. Della Valle and Brooks gave Milan the early 0:4 lead, James’ three pointer forced Coach Spahija to call for an early timeout with the scoreboard showing 0:7. Scottie scored six points to keep the yellows close to Milan (6:9). Milan completed an 8:2 run to take the 8:17 lead with just over two minutes remaining in the first quarter.
Maccabi showed a lot of hustle enroute of a 6:0 run (14:17) forcing coach Pianigiani to call for a timeout. Both teams traded blows until the end of the first quarter with Milan having the 19:22 lead.
Ray scored at the beginning of the second quarter to make it a one point game, but Milan reacted as they took the 22:26 lead. Zoosman scored a three pointer after a great ball movement (25:26).
Scottie and Jake completed the comeback giving Maccabi the edge (31:29). James scored from deep to give Milan the lead again but Wilbekin tied the game with three minutes remaining in the first half (35:35). Gudaitis and Fontechio made sure Milan will have the edge 41:42 edge at halftime.
Milan increased their lead at the beginning of the third, but Kane kept Maccabi close (47:45), Nedovic and James hit back to back threes but Caloiaro and Ray brought Maccabi back to within a striking distance (51:53). Ray’s jumper trimmed Milan’s lead to 55:58 but Tarczewski made both of his free throws as Milan finishes the third quarter ahead 55:60.
Wilbekin was fouled on a three point attempt and made all of his free throws (58:60). After trading blows from downtown O’Bryant’s three point play gave Maccabi the 67:66 edge. Nedovic scored from deep but Cohen and O’Bryant reacted with back to back threes as the yellows took the 73:70 lead. Milan completed a 6:0 run to take the 73:76 lead with just over two minutes remaining in the game. Kane and Tyus’ free throws made it a one point game but James’ layup kept Maccabi at bay (75:78). Nedovic made it 75:80 from the free throw line securing the win for the Milanese side.
