Maccabi Elite Tel Aviv players Yotam Halperin & Anton Kazarnovsli, led Israel to a 86-77 win over Spain in the Under 20 European Championship held in Brno, Czech Republic. Halperin played 39 minutes, scored 24 pts (17-17 in FT), pulled down 3 rbds & dished 2 assists. Kazarnovski played 34 minutes, scored 18 pts (9-10 in FT) and grabbed 12 rbds,
Israel is ranked second in Group A and has an excellent chance to make the quarter finals. On Tuesday Israel will play the Czech Republic and on Wednesday vs Croatia.
After three games, captain Halperin is ranked third in the championship in scoring (21.7) and second in FT (92.3%) behind Kazarnoski (92.9%) who has averages of 11.3 pts and 6.0 rbds.
Another Maccabi TA player, Avi Ben Chimol, is on the team as well as Erez Kohanski (10.0 ppg) who played last year fo Maccaboi and Gilad Hirsch, ex Maccabi TA Juniors.
