Maccabi Elite Tel Aviv wrote tonight their eighth loss of the season in the Israeli league, when they saw Galil Elyon and Oded Kattash beat them 72-77 at home.

Lior Eliyahu said after the game: “Nothing went in today. We’ll continue to work hard. We’ll play basketball and not think about all the rest. We really wanted to win but it didn’t work out. We’ll have to come much focused to win the Final Four.”

Kattash said: “We’re fighting to survive in the league and that’s why this win is so important. It wasn’t a win we planned to have, so it’s a bonus for us. I’m happy because we got the win, not because of anything else. I’m happy to beat Maccabi regardless of what happened to me here. I put this behind me and I have no interest to make it a bigger business than it is.

“We controlled the tempo, we didn’t try to run when it wasn’t needed. We looked for mis-matches that work for our best and to execute them for the best even if the shots didn’t fall in. I don’t know why we play better on the road.”
