The youth team’s point guard, who excelled in the FIBA U18 European Championship, joins Oded Kattash’s senior squad: “It makes us proud”
Mayer is a strong and athletic guard, who despite his age plays with great maturity. He is a great shooter and facilitator that can both drive to the hoop or pull-up from deep. He finished the European Championship with 15.6 PPG, 3.9 APG and 2.9 RPG while playing nearly 33 minutes per game.

The young player, who came to Maccabi’s youth department while he was in the 3rd grade and joins the seniors already at the age of 16, added: “I can’t wait to start working”.
Omer Mayer was born on October 8th, 2006. He is a member of Maccabi’s youth department since the start, and came up through all the teams until he was promoted to the U18 team at the age of 15. In the past season in the U18 Israeli League, the guard delivered 12.2 PPG, 4.2 APG, 5.1 RPG, 1.6 SPG and 17.1 PIR per game. He helped the team win both the Israeli league title and Israeli cup.
