Maccabi’s EuroLeague campaign has yet to start but what better way to prepare to a new EuroLeague season than to face some of the opponents in the preseason tournaments in Cyprus, Croatia and Greece
Cyprus Tournament
Maccabi has been invited to participate in the tournament held in the capital of Cyprus, Nicosia, where the yellows will play three games, the tournament will feature two teams from Greece: Panathinaikos and AEK Athens (BCL Champs) and a fourth team from Russia (Khimki Moscow Region).
Zadar Tournament
This will be the fifth Zadar tournament, with five top EuroLeague teams participating alongside the Chinese reigning champs Liaoning flying leopards. The Kresmir Cosic hall is located in south Croatia and it has 8,000 seats.
The tournament will give Spahija’s squad a great chance to face top competition with a new season in the horizon. The teams will be divided into two groups with the teams in the group playing against each other, the last day of the tournament the finals game will be held as well as the final standings games (3-5).

Pavlos Giannakopoulos tournament
The yellows will finish their away preseason tournament in Greece. The tournament will be held in memory of Pao’s late president Pavlos Giannakopoulos. The legendary president that was in office from 1987-2012 has passed away at the age of 89.
Maccabi will play against two opponents and then will travel back to Israel, and on October 11th Spahija’s squad will travel to Athens again only this time for their EuroLeague season opener.
