Joins Saras in the Indiana Pacers. The fifth Maccabi player to join the NBA in the last three years after Udrih, Huffman, Saras & Parker
The official site of the Indiana Pacers published last night the Maceo Baston has signed with the team for the 2006/07 season. The 30 years old Baston is the fifth Maccabi player in the last three years to join the NBA after Benio Udrih (San Antonio Spurs), Nate Huffman (Toronto Raptors), Sarunas Jasikevicius (Indiana Pacers) and Anthony Parker (Toronto Raptors). Baston was supposed to play his fourth season with Maccabi but a last minute intervention by Pacers President Larry Bird, convinced Baston to fuflfil his dream and play in the NBA. In Indiana he will join Sarunas Jasikevicius who will play in his second season. Baston already played half a season in Toronto before joining Maccabi in summer 2003. In the three seasons with Maccabi, Baston won two Euroleague trophies and one second place. He won three Israeli Super League titles as well as three Israeli Cups. In 70 Euroleague games he scored 929 points. His averages: 13.3 pts. 6.5 rbds, 1.1 stls & 1 blocked shot.
