Maccabi Electra Tel Aviv held a press conference yesterday (Monday) to introduce new player Milan Mačvan. “I’m very excited because I’m joining Maccabi.” Blatt: “We’ve brought one of the biggest talents in Europe.” Mačvan will be in the lineup for Thursday’s game against Asseco Prokom.

Maccabi Electra Tel Aviv held a celebratory press conference to welcome newcomer Milan Mačvan to the team.
In attendance were club chairman Shimon Mizrahi, head coach David Blatt, team captain Derrick Sharp, Mačvan, and his agent.
In accordance with Euroleague rules, Mačvan will be eligible to play in Thursday night’s game against Asseco Prokom in Gdynia, Poland.
Milan Mačvan told the gathering, “I’m very excited because I’m joining Maccabi, maybe the biggest club in the world. It’s been one of my dreams, because I was a junior when they took the title in the Euroleague in 2004.
I’m very excited to have the chance to work with the excellent players and great coach.
I must give my best to help the team.
We have a good chance for winning the Euroleague; right now the score is 8 – 1.
We must continue like this in the Euroleague.
In Israel, we expect [to take] the title.”
David Blatt noted, “This summer, when we set our goals for the team, one of the main things that we wanted to do was to realize a vision for Maccabi that was inclusive not only of the next game, or the next month, but of the years to come.
By signing one of the great young talents in Europe, even at this stage of the year, I think we’ve lived up to that.”
“Mačvan is a great player with a lot of talent, but above and beyond that he’s a special person and a good person.
If he were not the kind of young man that he is, we wouldn’t have brought him in here, but because he is a player and a personality that suits the type of team that we’ve built here, we’re extremely happy to have him join our club at this time.”
“We are not the only club that wanted Milan Mačvan.
I’m happy and proud to say that this young man, together with Zoran (Mačvan’s agent) made the decision to come to our club, despite the fact that there were many other people who wanted him.”
As always, Derrick Sharp took on the task of greeting the newcomer to the team, “I want to welcome Milan Mačvan.
We welcome him with open arms.
We’re excited about the fact that he’s joining us.”
