Ashkelon celebrated the historical win over Maccabi Tel Aviv. Adi Azulay: “Maccabi has a great coach and team and I hope for them they’ll recover.”
“We need to find solutions,” said Nikola Vujcic after the game. “We don’t have much time and obviously things don’t work well at the moment. In a Final Four system the title is always in danger because anybody can beat you on a given night.”
Chairman Shimon Mizrakhi said after the game: “We recovered from worst situations in the past”
David Bluthenthal added: “I feel fine. It’s not my decision if I’ll play or not. I need to show up for the next practice and work harder. I have no doubt we’ll win the title.”
Esteban Batista concluded: “I have no explanation. We lost our strength and things don’t work for us. We’ll have to find solutions quickly.”

Azulay, who led his team to their seventh win in eight game and stays in the battle for the Final Four, added: “We were in the last spot but with big faith and joyful basketball we are where we are now. One of the best things for us is that in most wins we came back from a big deficit. I’m proud of my players. It’s an historical moment for the city. I hope that with a bigger budget we’ll be in the top of the league from the start of the season.”
Steve Burtt, who shinned with 27 points and six assists: “I told the coach we need to start the games down by 14 because it makes us play like one united team. Everything is possible and the sky is the limit. We now want to focus on Bnei HaSharon.”
