Maccabi Playtika Tel Aviv dropped a league game in Holon on Monday, but the yellows are still in the midst of a great run when it comes to the EuroLeague, maintaining a streak of five straight wins.
On Thursday (19:00 local, 12 pm ET), the Israeli champs will face CSKA Moscow away and try to get a victory in a place where they triumphed only two times since 2004. The Russians carry a negative momentum with three consecutive losses in the EuroLeague.
“We are playing a very good team that is always among the candidates to make the final four,” said Giannis Sfairopoulos, ahead of the game. “We will have to be very focused, stick to the game plan, and fight in every moment of the game because CSKA will punish us for any loss of concentration.”
“For us, it is important to keep playing well and winning. This is what builds a team’s character”, Derrick Williams added. “Regardless of its current form, CSKA is one of the best teams in Europe, and I’m sure we’re in for a big battle.”
