Maccabi Tel Aviv is pleased to announce the appointment of veteran basketball coach Rafi Bogatin to the position of second assistant coach, under the direction of Guy Goodes. Bogatin, who was once the personal coach of Goodes, Doron Sheffer, and Gur Shelef, also served under David Blatt with Galil Elyon, and Effi Birenbaum with Bnei Hasharon. He was also the coach of Elitzur Holon, Nirosoft Carmiel, and M.C. Habika’a in the women’s league.
In 2006 Bogatin was the assistant coach of the Spartak Moscow women’s basketball team, winners of that year’s Eurocup title. He went on to serve for five years as the assistant to Orna Ostfeld, head coach of the Ramat Hasharon women’s basketball team, winning the Israeli Cup and the Israeli championship twice. In 2013 he returned for a second term as Ostfeld’s A.C. In recent years he has been responsible for the Israeli Olympic team and coached all of the National Youth Teams. Last season, he coached Maccabi Tel Aviv’s youth team.
