Maccabi FOX Tel Aviv won its 53rd championship making it back to back titles. The yellows were focused from the tip-off ok getting the job done and that’s exactly what they did. Rishon managed to get back into the game and event tie it (44:44) at the beginning of the third quarter but the squad of coach Giannis Sfairopoulos remained calm as they delivered one blow after another to secure the 89:75 win and the 2018/19 championship.

“We had a lot of ups and downs and I’m happy with the way we reacted and from our win in the last game of the season”, said the championship game MVP John DiBartolomeo. “We wanted that this will be our DNA in our game. When you’re successful in getting stops the game becomes easier on both ends. We’ve been through a process with Giannis Sfairopoulos, he was very positive and he made us a successful team. We’re here to win titles and I’m glad we did it”.

DeAndre Kane who also had a terrific game showed a lot of love for his Greek coach: “I’m happy for Giannis Sfairopoulos. He came in and changed our entire season. He’s a great coach and an even better person”.

On a personal level, Kane’s year has been a roller coaster on which he said: “I know my mom is proud of me, I’ll come back home in a few days and I’ll see her. It was a tough season for me, I got injured and also with what happened with my mom in the United States, I’ve dealt with a lot of mental difficulties, but the staff, the management and the fans helped me go through it. It was a long season and a tough season but at the of it we’re the champs and that’s what matters”.

Tarik Black added: “I trusted my friends and it gave us confidence. We knew that we will play well, it’s huge with all the fans. We did what we had to do and we took care of business, especially against a good team like Maccabi Rishon LeZion. The future? I’m grateful for this moment and I will cherish it, I live the moment and I enjoy it”.
