Devin Smith, now in his fourth season with Maccabi Electra Tel Aviv, continues to impress. Smith, Maccabi’s best player this season, was named the bwin Player of the Month for December by the Euroleague, after posting his best numbers ever. Smith led the Euroleague in points in December, while leading Maccabi to three straight wins and securing the team a spot in the Top 16.
Smith’s excellent numbers included an average 20.7 points, 6.7 rebounds, 4 assists, and 2 steals per game, giving him an outstanding 25.7 index ranking. Devin also shot an amazing 57.1% from two point range, 45.5% from three, and 88.9% from the foul line.
This is Smith’s second Euroleague Player of the Month award since coming to Maccabi; the first was in March 2013. Smith also finished the regular Euroleague season with the best numbers in Maccabi, and is among the top players in the Euroleague in every leading category: fourth place with a 19.2 index ranking, seventh in points scored with 16.8, and fifth in rebounds with 7.1 per game.
Smith will receive his award at one of Maccabi’s home games in the Top 16.
Another Maccabi player of note is Brian Randle, who reached eleventh place among the top players in the Euroleague regular season with an average index rating of 17, after posting an impressive 13.8 points, 5 rebounds, and 1.6 blocks per game.
