Maccabi’s head coach after the 90:82 win over Hapoel Tel Aviv: “In the last quarter we played good defense, offensively we made some shots”. Tyus: “Hope this win will be a jumpstart for the rest of the season”
“First I want to congratulate our team, our club and the fans for their support. Lately a lot was said about us, but the right people always find the way at the right time”, said coach Neven Spahija after the 90:82 win in the derby. “One game doesn’t mean everything, but this game was so important for us to win this game in front of our fans and to stop losing games at home. Today our players showed up and they did their best with their effort, of course we made a lot of mistakes, but in the end in the last quarter we played good defense, offensively we made some shots”.
“I thought it was a much needed win for us, everyone came out and played well collectively and we wanted to win for the fans, I think it was the most important thing for the Maccabi organization so we got the win for them so hope this win will be a jumpstart for the rest of the season”, said Alex Tyus, who finished this game with MVP honors. “We had a good game plan and with stuck with it for most part and we got the win. I’m just trying to bring energy every night it’s a long season with a lot of different games especially in the EuroLeague when you’re traveling and you come back having to play in the Israeli league, now we can focus strictly on the Israeli league”.
