Maccabi FOX Tel Aviv lost the domestic league derby 77:73 to Hapoel Tel Aviv to finish the first domestic round as the number one seed with a 9:2 record. The reds got an early 15 points lead, and though Spahija’s squad came back swinging and even take the lead in the third quarter the reds finished the game having the upper hand.

Coach Spahija: “Hapoel played better than us and they wanted this game more from the beginning, we didn’t have the same pressure like we had on Sunday, it’s hard to understand our turnovers but it was mainly from lack of focus. I hope to solve it. It’s possible that the win on Sunday in the Israeli cup put us at ease”.

Jake Cohen: “it’s not necessarily a mental issue. Of course it’s disappointing to lose such a game at home, I’m not sure in what ways was this game different than the one we won at the Cup, but we will have to figure it out and to work on it. Hapoel made big shots and we turned the ball over, which characterizes a new team, we will have to grow from this situation, it felt like we weren’t as sharp as we were on Sunday”.
