The Final Four in Tel Aviv

The Euroleague Board affirmed this afternoon that the Final Four will be played as scheduled in Tel Aviv on April 29 & May 01, 2004.
The Maccabi Tel Aviv BC representatives, President Shimon Mizrahi, Vice President David Federman & General manager Ami Eshel, presented the members of the Board with all the security measures to be taken and after a three hours meeting the decision was unanimous.
In a press conference that followed, Euroleague CEO Jordi Betomeu said: “We have analyzed the situation of a Final Four, which is different than a regular season game, a longer event with a bigger impact in terms of people attending the games and therefore needed a different and specific analysis. The Board have evaluated the security measures ready in Tel Aviv and these measures are sufficient and comfortable enough to llet everyone enjoy the Final Four. We don’t see any obstacle to holding the Final Four in Tel Aviv”.
Maurizio Gherardini, Benetton Treviso Genaral Manager added: “We believe that the security measures offered by Maccabi are more than enough to assure that the Final Four will be safe. The decision was unanimous and we will work so that the fans and the media from all countries attend the Final Four”.
