The Juniors also win the National Cup

After last year`s disappointment when they lost the Cup Final to Hapoel Tel Aviv, tonight Maccabi Juniors captured the Youth Cup for the 16th time with a 93-84 win over Hapoel Galil Elyon . In the game played at Raanana, Maccabi held a 28-25 lead at the end of the first quarter. At half time Galil Elyon led 44-43. But Eli Canetti`s players took control in the third (67-57). The Northeners cut the score to 80-77 but a strong finish by the Yellows assured victory. Three players dominated the game: Sean Daniel with 27 pts, 9 rbds, & 8 assists, Gal Mekel with 26 pts & 6 asts and Anton Shptbin with 20 pts & 6 rbds. Other Maccabi scorers: Amit Birkats 6, Shay Yakoubovitz 5, Andrei Riznikov 4, Tomer Shindler 3, Or Steiner 2 pts. The Cup and individual medals were presented to Maccbi`s captain Gal Mekel accompanied by Sean Daniel by Yermi Olmert, President of the Israel Bastketball Federation and his deputy Shimon Mizrahi.
