Maccabi’s head Coach Neven Spahija after the 88:80 loss to Olympiacos: “I think we showed a big difference between the first and the second half”. DeAndre Kane: “We’re gonna look at film and learn how to get better together and move on to next game”
“Olympiacos was the better team tonight I think exactly for the result of this 8-10 points”, said coach Neven Spahija. “I think we played a pretty good game in the second half but not enough to surprise Olympiacos they played really smart if you look at the box score you’re gonna see the difference, they let us go into foul trouble and go to the free throw line. I think we showed a big difference between the first and the second half, we were more mature but like I said to beat Olympiacos we have to play consistently 40 minutes not 20”.
“First of all got to give them credit, they’re a good team”, said DeAndre Kane, who delivered a heroic performance of 22P, 3R, 6A and 3S. “They capitalize on a lot of mistakes when you make them, for me I think we beat ourselves today, a few things we could have did better, we gave them a lot of free throws in the first half fouling them unnecessary but we can take a lot of good from this game, we played without two point guards but we fought, we fought for 40 minutes and that’s what it takes to build championship teams and we’re gonna look at film and learn how to get better together and move on to next game”.
“Obviously a tough one for us”, said the team captain John-DiBartolomeo. “I thought we had some food moments throughout but not enough, against a team like Olympiacos with the injuries that we have to play for a full 40 minutes and we didn’t do that tonight, we hurt ourselves too much and they were able to take advantage”.
