Euroleague champions, Maccabi Elite Tel Aviv, opens tomorrow (Thursday, 21:10, live on Chanell 1), its Euroleague season vs Lithuanian champions Zalgiris. This will also be the official opening of the Euroleague season where the hosts celebrate the 60th anniversary of their club.
This will be the seventh meeting between the teams in the last two years, Maccabi having won four times. The last game in Tel Aviv has gone already into history with Derrick Sharp’s incredible three pointer on the buzzer, sending the game into overtime which eventually Maccabi won and qualified for the Final Four and won the trophy.
Some heroes of this game will not ne on the floor tomorrow: David Bluthenthal has left Maccabi for Sacramento in the NBA. Cota & Gustas are not playing any more for Zalgiris & Sabonis is injured.
On the other hand Yaniv Green & Nestoras Kommatos will make their Euroleague debut as well as assistant coach Jacob Gino.
