As the Yellows celebrated the 87 – 73 win, the Latvian coach told his players: “You played like a team. Bravo. I’d like you to play the same after getting big leads”
There are events that make you happy, if you are a fan of the yellows, no matter what, no matter the hard times. One great example is the derby win on Saturday night, 87 – 73 over Hapoel Tel Aviv. And if Bagatskis’ players will continue to bring such energy, good things will follow.
“Basically, good job. Bravo. You played like a team”, said coach Bagatskis to his players in the locker room following the game. “We need to learn from this experience. How many times did we get a big lead and let it slip away? Just keep playing the same way”.
Sylvan Landesberg, picked as the MVP of the game with 18 points, said: “It was a difficult loss on Thursday so it was important for us to come back quickly with a win. We know we’re in a tough spot in the Euroleague but will keep battling while there’s still chance”.
Team captain, Guy Pnini, added: “I think we need to drop the questions about Israelis players or foreign players. We’re all one team, regardless of nationality. We all want to play and I think those who played less on Thursday got more minutes this time and proved they can contribute. I’m happy we won, every win is sweet – especially in the derby and in such difficult times so hopefully it would give us a push in the Euroleague as well”
