Maccabi’s head coach Giannis Sfairopoulos after the 91:78 win against Jerusalem: “We wanted to give the fans a big win”
“It’s an important win for us, we knew that we were playing the Classico, we wanted to play a good game for Maccabi”, said Coach Giannis Sfairopoulos. “We wanted to give the fans a big win which is why we overcame the tiredness, to play four games in seven days, we cane with extra motivation it gave us energy. Jerusalem is a very good team, we knew that it is not going to be easy, but we always had the lead and we didn’t allow them to lead for a moment we were determined to fight and to play really good”.
“We had a good game”, said John DiBartolomeo. “It was an important game, we showed character, the loss left us with a bad taste in our mouthes, we had only one day to prepare to the game against Jerusalem so it’s a big win. We’re only in December and this league is a marathon. We need to get better, we’re heading in the right direction but still this is a long season. The made 2P stat is amazing, it shows we made the right decisions and took only good shots. It’s very impressive and we should aim there”.
